The Transformers Compendium Vol. 1

The editorial review reflects a predominantly positive reception of the early "Transformers" comic collection. Fans appreciate the depth and detail that the comic provides, especially when compared to the animated series. The writing, particularly under Simon Furman's tenure, is hailed as exceptional, allowing for richer character development and more engaging storytelling. The review mentions a strong preference for the comic's portrayal of key characters and arcs, especially the characters of Shockwave and the Dinobots, who are given more depth than their animated counterparts. Readers express a fondness for specific story arcs, with the first twelve issues receiving particular praise for their introductions to characters, engaging plots, and clever interactions that draw from the broader Marvel Universe. However, some criticism is directed at individual stories, especially the collection's last issue, "Shooting Star," which feels out of place and lacking in quality compared to the preceding narratives. Despite this, the overall Consensus remains that this comic collection is a must-have for die-hard fans, although some readers question the cost and physical format options available. In summary, this collection is celebrated for its storytelling excellence, character depth, and overall contribution to the Transformers legacy, making it a worthwhile investment for fans while also facing some critique regarding pricing and physical durability. **
