The Styrofoam Cutting Tool is an excellent tool to make dioramas, train layout or other foam projects. It handles easily and cuts smoothly, and provides a clean and precise finish. It is essential to wear a mask when using this tool since it cuts with heat. This product comes with replacement wires of .009" thickness, and the wire can only be made straight. One of the limitations of this tool is that the maximum deep foam you can cut with a hot knife is 4 inches. The bow is 7" across and can cut about 3 inches deep; however, you can manage to get the max cut of 8 inches by going at it from both sides. It is best for styrofoam; no more than 1 cm, you can cut through XPS foam too, even corrugated plastic sheets depending on their thickness. The semi-circle cutter only supports the hot wire, but it is important to note that the product would not last if this is your main purpose for using this item. Users noted that it is essential to cut slowly since slow cuts work best. Additionally, the rest is lightweight and can easily knock over, so it should be mounted to a sturdier base or create your rest. Some users also suggested that the cord should be a bit longer. There are several attachments that come with this tool, and they are simple to pop in and out of the handle and have a simple variety to allow for different cutting shapes.
