The Netgate SG-3100 is a firewall router that comes pre-installed with pfSense. It features very close to gigabit speeds with WAN throughput when configured as a basic firewall. It can be configured to use opt1 as a dmz network segregated from the lan on switched ports. Basic zero to ping support is included with all Netgate appliances, while additional optional Netgate Global Support Business and Enterprise technical assistance is available for an additional cost. The SG-3100 was described by some users as running hot and often quit working, and was unable to run Suricata or pfblockerNG or ntoping without overheating to the point of failure. It was said to be unstable and faulted within days of purchase by some, although others praised its ease of set up and functionality, particularly its logging and VLAN features, and its ability to handle a 500MB fiber connection. The Netgate SG-3100 has a poorly rated return policy with a 25% restocking fee, which puts off potential customers looking for a more flexible and reliable option.
